Review: Making a loss on hardware will be fine with Microsoft, if they can make it all up from the gaming software. Selling more hardware will give a good initiative to Microsoft as Sony and Nintendo play the catch-up game. Microsoft will try capturing as much market share as it can before rivals come up with the advanced version of their gaming devices. To win the battle in this area, it has to as push as much hardware as it can and as fast as it can, even if it has to lower the price further even if it means more losses. Once hardware has been sold in large numbers, Microsoft will be able to push more software in the market, using hardware as the base.
